Moxie's Fab Challenge - For the Birds

Over at Moxie's Fab World Cath's challenge was to create a paper crafted project that incorporates a bird of any type, but it must also include a "space" in which one is likely to find birds. I decided to get adventurous and have a little fun with this challenge.....a Bookmark.

Firstly I cut out a tree shape from a sheet of acrylic and inked it with Tim Holtz Adirondack alcohol inks. Next I cut a rectangle from glossy card and used the Tim Holtz Air Splatter technique. I didn't have a can of compressed air so I just used a straw (took me back to my childhood). I inked the edges and stapled this to the tree shape. Then I created layers by adding stamping, mesh, a flower, a feather, some rub-ons and the title "Time to Read".

I stamped the bird image onto glossy card and highlighted it with water colour pencils and cut it out.

Finally I added a small length of chain with a charm attached. This bookmark is so totally NOT my style and yet, I am really happy with how it turned out. The finished bookmark is 16.5cm X 11.5cm. Now to find a good book.
